Some things are universal. Thank heavens. You know how it feels, when you are driving down the freeway, and thinking about the next couple of hours, you realize you are hungry, and then realize your favorite food is waiting for you at the next off-ramp?
Tacos. Carnitas. See that tomatillo salsa? The chopped red onions? The cilantro? Making my mouth water now even as I sit on my sofa with not a speck of pork in sight.

Yum. I like how it's served on a paper, and that you paid exact change. I'm about to go over to my local Mexican "fast food" place myself.

Oooooh, I'm hungry and you're killing me here. Carnitas are about as abundant in Ohio as maracas (which is to say – not very).

Om nom nom, as they say. Don't you love it that to cook them you submerge pork in lard for 3 hours? Illegal. Doesn't Ohio have its own regional deliciousness? I know for sure that Martha's Vineyard does…

Those. Look. Amazing. The pictures reminded me that I'm hungry. I think I'm going to go get a Chilean empanada right now.

Clearly not something that should have been read when starving. Sigh.
Have a terrific weekend!

Yummy! Taqueria Vallerta is one of the things I miss most about living in Santa Cruz.
Junior Tacos is okay Carnitas for Ohio… but some things just don't compare to Cali.
