A Sortie In Bona Fide Clothing, or, Saturday Morning at 10:33am

I’ve been out to dinner the past two nights. This feels remarkable. Here in the Bay Area, we are experiencing a few halcyon days of COVID, i.e. cases down and good weather for outdoor eating. I’m living in the moment.

Which meant, unsurprisingly, I also had to put clothes on. From last night.

Eileen Fisher cropped lantern pants in Barley (I also own Black and Graphite, size XS), Gucci Princetown slides of several years back, arm brace, the Doubt knit top by PatSport, and a decades-old Hello Kitty necklace by Kimora Lee Stevens. Remember frivolity?

Later I added my black UNIQLO down jacket to go with the slides and arm brace. Ever chic.

At the very least, I am now reacquainted with fairy lights, sunset and petrale sole I did not cook. Not to mention excellent company.

Have a good weekend. If you’re in the mood, please tell me how you’re doing.

  1. What a happy post! And yes, we are venturing out to dinner as well. And I also have a Uniqlo down jacket and love it. I learned about that company on your blog.

  2. Mostly too cold here near NYC for dinner outside, and although friends keep suggesting dinner inside restaurants we’re still not ready for that. Hope to get to that point soon.

  3. How exciting! Living in the moment, that’s what we do. When I was feeling guilty about my undeserved good fortune — not living in Ukraine at the moment — my husband reminded me that we cannot live other people’s lives. You look perfect. I have the graphite lantern pants in my shopping cart at EF — I already have a pair in khaki medium and they are quite large. Are you pleased with the x-small size?

    1. XS works for me. I could even have done XXS but then the rise is too short. Am usually a 4-6 in pants, I am 5’5+” and somewhere between 123-126 pounds. Enjoy!

  4. What a treat to see you all dressed up. I’ve always enjoyed your style. We’re eating out doors. I still wear a mask in shops. and walking around goups.

  5. That all sounds rather splendid. Spring has arrived (officially) here in northern England, bright and cool, buds busting out, birds swooping. I am quite happy to live in this particular moment. I note (a trifle facetiously, admittedly) that you did not credit the arm brace.

  6. You look great. Love and remember that necklace well. We’ve been dining out some for months here and it’s always a treat.

  7. We are eating out too and it’s wonderful. Let’s hope it all lasts. Massachusetts is still cold but in a month outdoor dining on the coast will be in full swing. Down and early Spring work well together.

  8. You look fabulous. I had a friend visiting (excitement!) and ventured out as well. What a thrilling thing it is to be able to go out and enjoy good company.
