Polished Tomboy In A San Francisco Spring And Princetown Slides

The Uniform, in another guise.

The moto jacket with black bag and bright patterned shoes is perhaps not as perfectly balanced as I’d like. (BTW no graphic tee, the shoes were enough.) But who among us is perfect every day? I felt fantastically cool whether I was or was not.

And yes, I did succumb to the Gucci slides. The designers are doing such amazing accessories, almost like limited print editions. Scrolling through these options gives you an idea of what to my eye verges on mass artistry.

Fortunately, as Sue shows with her customary aplomb, here, Jeffrey Campbell is giving us reasonably priced alternatives.

Finally, I must thank my motorcycle jacket, for there are many sunsets into which we ride, and many ways to do that selfsame riding.

A hushed vroom to all.

  1. Agree on no graphic tee. Love the look. Simple, youthful without been trendy. You nailed it as far as I’m concerned.

  2. Those slides are superb! This is one of my favorite Gucci prints. I’ve also had my eye on that black pair with the embroidery.

  3. My feet are saying, “Yes! Yes!” to the slides. My podiatrist is saying, “I don’t think so.” It makes me so sad!

    You go, girl!

  4. You look great. I love the look of the slides, but how do you manage to walk in them? I always fall off of shoes that don’t have backs.

    1. @MJ, For some reason I haven’t found these hard to walk in at all. I haven’t done any hiking, obviously, or even any long city walks, but for light walking they stay on and are very comfortable. So comfortable in fact that I even voluntarily wear them in the house!

  5. Love your hair here–and the slides. Alas, I can’t wear them either. Those darn compression stockings keep me in closed toe shoes. You look great here—love the whole thing!

    1. @Susan D., Thank you! Of course, Gucci may do these prints/embellishment in their usual loafers, or even sneakers, but I can imagine compression stockings do dampen one’s desire for fanciful footwear.

  6. Love love your whole look. I agree, the prints on some of the accessories are like pieces of art. You look gorgeous…and happy.

  7. I love this outfit. How could you not feel fantastically cool with those slides? They are amazing!!!

    1. @Jane, Aw thank you so much. I am totally loving the shoes, wore them again today with my pink tiger tshirt and an old heathered purple Marant tweed jacket and I was in heaven.

  8. Tres chic Lisa!! You look like the stylish European women with their jackets. Your is gorgeous. I like the slides too!

  9. Love, love, love this outfit. Simple, chic, hip, but not trendy or trying too hard. The shoes give a little surprise, upping the style quotient significantly.

    Will copy. :)

  10. I think you look fabulous and I love your blog. My only “words of advice” which people usually don’t want to hear (who wants unsolicited advice lol) is to wear a better bra with support, and to wear tighter jeans! I know you like your baggy jeans, but you should wear a tighter jean, it would look much better :) again, love your blog, been reading it for many years.

    1. @kiki, Thank you so much for reading. As far as your words of advice, I think if we look at them as your opinion, vs. “advice” per se, I have no problem hearing them. The thing is, I have a very very low pain threshold. I can’t stand discomfort. So, no tight pants, and no underwires. I realize that this means my body in clothes doesn’t wholly comport with looking “good,” in the sense of looking the way we prefer women’s bodies to look, i.e., fit and under 40, but I simply can’t abide being uncomfortable unless I have to do it for something fancy.

I should point out that the wrinkle you see that makes me look so unsupported isn’t actually my bust, which is higher up, and under the jacket. That said, I totally do let myself sag more than is currently socially acceptable. What do you think, can I make it a trend? (I need the laughing emoji here) First gray hair, then a lowered bustline? I’ll stop at chin hair though;).
